Sprite Generator V 1.0
(c) by Markus Herbord 1994
This file should help you to install the program successfully.
Well, there are at least two different possibilities to reach
this aim...
First you can unpack the PROGRAM.ZIP somewhere, then you create
the subdirectory-structure and copy the files manually. This
method is a bit circumstantial, and should only be used, if you
get problems with the installation program or on other reasons.
If you would like to do this, here is a list, where the files
must be found in:
(1) <Sprite Generator directory>
──────────────────────────────────
GENERATE.AXE, SVGA256.BGI, READ.ME, README_S.VGA, STDCOL.PAL,
STDCOL2.PAL, STDCOL3.PAL, GRAYPAL.PAL, SCRBLANK.TME, BUGFILE.TXT,
REGISTER.TXT
(2) Sub-directory HELP: <Sprite Generator directory>\help
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
HELP-[1-6].HLP, PAPER-[1-4].HLP, INTRO.HLP, HAND.SPR, IDE.SPR,
FONTS.SPR, KAMEL2.SPR, KAMEL.SPR
(3) Sub-directory EXAMPLES: <Sprite Generator directory>\examples
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
all files with .PAL and .SPR and the PCX example.
Additionally the animation-example ROULETTE.[1-6]
Don't copy those, which you have already copied within (2).
The CEXAMPLE.* is your choise.
I recommend, that you copy the ".PAL"-Files in this directory
too.
(4) Sub-directory SOURCE: <Sprite Generator directory>\source
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
all files with the extention .PAS, .C, the CEXAMPLE.*, and the
EXE files, that belong to the .PAS and .C files. You also need
the SVGABGI-driver.
Create a directory somewhere, in which you would like to have
the program. In this directory you make three sub-directories,
HELP, EXAMPLES and SOURCE. Copy the file from (1) in the main-
directory, from (2) in the sub-directory HELP and those from (3)
in the sub-directory EXAMPLES. And at last the sources from (4)
in your SOURCE directory.
The simple methode
────────────────────
The better way to install the program would be to use the
installation program (INSTALL.EXE). It does all that auto-
matically. Select the drive, on which you would like to
install the Sprite Generator.
Unpack the archive (PROGRAM.ZIP) on a disc (the best way I
would say) and call INSTALL.EXE to install the program on
harddisc (I would propose, that you use the harddisc, because
it is much faster than floppy. The program uses temporary
files, which were saved too slowly on a floppy drive. This is
the reason why you cannot run this program from CD-ROM). If you
already have unpacked the program on harddisc, I would suggest,
that you call the installation program and select another dir-
ectory to install the program itself.
How to use INSTALL.EXE
Select a drive and directory and start the installation.
Use the cursor keys left and right, to select a drive.
The cursor keys up and down will change the topic.
To put in the destination path, you move the black border onto
the second topic and press RETURN. Now you can enter the path.
Terminate your action with RETURN. If all parameters are correct,
you move the black border onto the third topic and press RETURN.
That's all.
In case you would like to abort the installation before you have
started it (with the third topic) you press ESC.
